Wolfman's Last Words

"Tell Bob Bailey that serial-killer Rafael Ramirez is walking hots for Neil Howard and living in Barn 24, Tackroom G."

Did You Know?

One of Wolfman's many duties was to go from the Churchill backside to the General Office to pick up the 20 to 30 Daily Racing Forms that were to then be delivered to the Racing Office (on the backside).
Well, it just so happened that one day Derby Week Wolfman parked his golf cart in a bad spot as he went into the General Office to pick up the Forms for the Racing Office.
He was then reprimanded by Churchill's Vice President of Operations, Dave Sweazy, and told he could no longer ride the golf cart to the front side.
So the next day and for many days thereafter, Wolfman WALKED to the General Office, picked up the Forms and carried them back to the Racing Office--all 20 to 30 of them.
That's a prime example of why this publication has such a total lack of respect for many of the folks in the Churchill Downs front office.

Keep An Eye
On O.D.S.

With Churchill's Spring Meet almost history, many of you will undoubtedly be using your O.D.S. accounts to make your wagers from the comfort of your own homes.
On Thursday, Injun Chuck was asked by Percy Padgett to deposit $400 into his O.D.S. account.
We gladly made the run for ol'Percy who was feeling poorly.  We deposited the $400 into his account at the Sports Spectrum office at exactly 2:25 p.m.
At 4:45 p.m . Injun Chuck got a call from Percy Padgett who said the money had not yet reached his account.  When we assured Percy Padgett we had been to the O.D.S. office, he immediately called to find out about his money.
After about 2 minutes it was discovered that Mr. Padgett's money had been credited to someone else's account.
If Percy Padgett was smart, he'd take that $400 and buy some stock in Churchill Downs.
You know, it ain't gonna be too much longer before Churchill Downs is gonna own and operate Hollywood Park too!

Churchill Downs
Fishin' Tournament

Churchill's 1st Annual Fishing Tournament was a huge success.
A Greyhound bus equipped with a fish-finder brought the group of 50 anglers from the Churchill backside to "Helen's Hideaway", a pay lake off of Dixie Hwy.
First-place went to Terry Baker who snagged a 10-pound carp off the bottom of the lake.
Terry Baker said his secret was to not get his fishin' line tangled up with those of his competitors.  Official results:
  1st - Terry Baker
  2nd - Christy Hazleton
  3rd - Jitu Taylor

A Racetracker Is
In Need Of Our Help

Some of you may have heard this story, but surely many of you have not.
Kevin Holland was, until a few weeks ago, a groom for Akiko Gothard, and the groom for K One King.
He went to a doctor prior to the Derby when he started developing some pain.  The doctor told Kevin Holland (41-years-old) that he should go to the hospital right then and have cancer surgery.
But Kevin Holland wanted to run K One King in the Kentucky Derby and did so, despite working in a great deal of pain.
Since then Kevin Holland has had the surgery and has just gone home from the hospital.
But the fact is, his road ahead will be a rough one and Kevin will not be able to work for quite some time.
That is where you come in.
We urge everyone who reads this to send whatever they can, large or small, to Kevin Holland at the address below.
Racetrackers have always helped their own and now is the time to do it again.      Kevin Holland
