Middlebrook Farm
At Keeneland In July
A lot of people don't know this, but the Feds had to put Miss Helen Alexander in the witness protection program. So from now on Miss Helen won't be selling her critters under the King Ranch banner. From now on her yearlings will sell in the Middlebrook Farm Consignment. But rest assured that the King Ranch quality will be the same as always.
To prove our point just look at the Keeneland July Sales graduates who were raised at Middlebrook Farm in the last three years.
Last year Middlebrook Farm sold Exchange Rate to Padua Farms. He recently won his only start at Hollywood Park by 5 lengths in 57 flat for five furlongs.
In 1997 Sheikh Mohammed purchased Bertolini (a graduate of Middlebrook Farm) who went on to win a Group 3 event in Europe and placed in a Group One race as well.
In 1996, Arch, winner of the Grade One Super Derby, was another high-powered critter that was raised at Middlebrook Farm.
This year at Keeneland in July Miss Helen offers five outstanding colts by such sires as Seattle Slew, Silver Hawk, Kingmambo, Unbridled, and Storm Cat.
So stop on by Barn 17 and pay Miss Helen a visit and checkout these fine racing prospects, but please don't mention anything about the witness protection program.

Dear Moon
Dear Moon:
Last night I was attending this big fancy sit-down dinner at a wedding reception held just up the hill from the Keeneland Sale's Pavilion. I noticed that each place setting had a knife, a spoon and two forks.
My question is this: What was the extra fork there for?
Signed,
Mike "Dirt" Bell
(former 606er)
Dear Dirt:
There are two reasons for the extra fork.
One, if you were real hungry you could eat with both hands (if you were ambidextrous) and two, in case you dropped one, you would still have one clean fork left.

Play The Odds
With Wintergreen Farm
Did you know that Bud Greely's Wintergreen Farm sold more Grade One winners per yearlings sold than any other leading Central Kentucky consignor from 1990 to 1995.
According to our statistics Wintergreen Farm sold a Grade One winner for every 33 yearlings sold.
Just to give you an idea of how that stacks up with the competition consider this: In the same period, Lane's End Farm sold 1 Grade One winner for every 58 yearlings sold. Three Chimneys Farm sold 1 Grade One winner for every 79 yearlings sold. Brookdale Farm sold 1 Grade One winner for every 93 yearlings sold and Jonabell Farm sold 1 Grade One winner for every 104 yearlings sold.
Bud Greely's Wintergreen Farm has sold at least one Grade One winner a year at public auction since 1991.
Checkout their strong consignment of yearlings in Barn 15 that will be selling to the highest bidder at Keeneland in July.

Walmac International
At Keeneland
Let's not be overlookin' Alphabet Jones at Keeneland in July cause he's got some awfully good yearlings selling at this sale.
Walmac International offers two colts and two fillies by the great Nureyev (Northern Dancer) who has had a tremendous influence as a sire in not only North America, but all of Europe as well. Nureyev has sired such greats as Breeders' Cup champions Theatrical (IRE), Miesque, and Spinning World just to name a few.
Also in the Walmac consignment is Hip #36, an Unbridled filly who is a 1/2-sister to European sensation Saratoga Springs. This is a beautiful filly with a truckload full of pedigree.
Another exceptional yearling offered in the Walmac consignment is Hip #178, a filly by Kingmambo, sire of classic winner, Lemon Drop Kid. Hip #178 is out of a Grade One winner of over $800,000 and a 1/2-sister to P.T. Indy who is Graded Stakes-placed.
So if you're in the market for racehorses who are poised to compete at the highest level on either side of the big pond, look no farther than the consignment of Alphabet Jones' Walmac International in Barn 17 at Keeneland.

Vinery Stallion
Silver Ghost
Vinery stallion Silver Ghost, by Mr. Prospector, is having another unbelievable year.
Silver Ghost is the sire of Dreams Galore who finished two bang-up 2nds to Silverbulletday in the Kentucky Oaks and Black-eyed Susan prior to her 7½-length victory in the Grade One Mother Goose at Belmont Park.
And now comes word out of Miami, Florida that Silver Season, by Silver Ghost, has won Calder's $200,000 Carry Back Stakes, the richest sprint race in North America for 3-year-olds.
Just like Injun Chuck has been sayin' for a long time, you just can't go wrong when you breed to Vinery Stallions.

Malone's
The Best Steaks in "606"
Brian McCarty and every one at Malone's are very proud of the fact that they have become the #1 place for steaks in Lexington and all of Central Kentucky.
The local racing community has really taken to Malone's because every time Injun Chuck goes in the joint we see nothin' but owners, breeders, trainers and one extra large Sallee Van executive named, Don "Moon" Gamble.
To get to Malone's just take New Circle Road to Tates Creek and you will be two furlongs from the Lansdowne Shops where Malone's is located. Call ahead for reservations if you like (606) 396-7500.
