Dirt Bell Wins!

We have just received word that Mike "Dirt" Bell has been elected to the Board of Directors of the KTA, the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association.
This is good news for horsemen everywhere cause ol'Dirt will call it like it is.  A lot of 606ers are not at all in tune to what goes on at a thoroughbred race meet.  They know horses, but they don't know the racetrack.  Dirt Bell's presence on the board will go a long way toward filling that void.
On the downside it looks like ol'Dirt is gonna have a breakdown and buy a sport's coat and a tie.

Accident Report

A lawsuit is pending against Keeneland President, Bill Greely, for an accident that happened while riding his Harley-Davidson two-wheel hogmobile.
Apparently Mr. Greely was visiting with James "Percy" Padgett at his home in Louisville.
When Mr. Greely was about to leave he started his motorcycle, not realizing it was in gear.
The bike suddenly took off and killed five hibiscus bushes in Percy Padgett's front yard.
Mr. Greely was uninjured and fled the scene before the cops had a chance to show up.

Indian Charlie's
Top 5 Saratoga Predictions

One -
Barney Sams, of the Reynolds Bell Thoroughbred Services, will drink more Miller Genuine Draft than he will Dom Perignon at Saratoga.

Two - Victory Gallop will run past Behrens like a freight train past a hobo in the Whitney Handicap.

Three - Marshall Jenny, of the Derry Meeting Farm, will spit-up all over his good suit at a fancy Saratoga Springs restaurant.

Four - Kenny Noe will make Hillary Rodam Clinton pay to get in Saratoga on Travers Day.  Valhol will win the Travers in stakes-record time.

Five - Dogwood Stables, Cod Cambell will stop wearing that silly-ass hat, that two sizes too small, to the paddock at Saratoga.

Calumet Farm Strong At
Keeneland in July

This year's Calumet Farm consignment at Keeneland in July is without a doubt their strongest ever.
Hip #196 is a bay colt by Unbridled and a 1/2-brother to Preakness winner and 3-year-old champion, Prairie Bayou and multiple stakes winner Flitch.  As we all know you just can't go wrong with offspring out of Wavering Monarch mares.  This is a strong good-looking colt that is a cinch to develop into a champion racehorse.
Hip #92 is a yearling filly by Danzig and out of the dam that produced multiple Grade One winner Auntie Mame ($961,480) and Grade One Acorn Stakes winner, Star De Lady Ann.  Her 2nd dam is TV Vixen who won 20 of 31 starts and multiple graded stakes.
Hip #88 from the Calumet consignment is an Unbridled colt out of a Danzig mare that was a Group Three winner in Ireland and placed in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes.
Hip # 163 is a chestnut filly by Woodman out of La Spia (by Capote) who won the Del Mar Debutante (Grade Two) and was 2nd in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (Grade One).

Mahogany Hall's
1st Crop Are Yearlings

With the many important yearlings sales at hand do yourself a big favor.
When you search the catalogs pay extra special attention to the sons and daughters from the 1st crop of Whitney Handicap winner Mahogany Hall.
Not only did Mahogany Hall win the Grade One Whitney Handicap at Saratoga, but he was a fast-closing 2nd in both the Brooklyn and Suburban Handicaps the same year.  Mahogany Hall was 3rd to Cigar when Cigar was at his best in the Gulfstream Park Handicap.
Mahogany Hall is by a leading sire of sires, Woodman.
Mahogany Hall is a big good-lookin' critter with his landing gear pointin' in the right direction.
But Mahogany Hall's greatest asset was his ability to go long.  He was talented enough to beat Serena's Song at 9 furlongs, but at that distance Mahogany Hall was just getting' warmed up.
Watch for the 1st crop of Mahogany Hall yearlings, you'll be awful damn glad you did.
