Lost Necklace
Mrs. James Eyre has lost a gold necklace at the Keeneland Sale and is desperately trying to find it. The necklace is a family heirloom and has much sentimental value.
If in the last few days you have found this necklace, you are asked to call Dr. Chuck Kidder in Lexington at (606) 299-1305 or (606) 293-0392.
He will know how to return it to Mrs. Eyre.
Thank you.

Leroy Jolley In Town
For The Sale
One of the most amazing things about this sport is why there is not a big time owner out there who couldn't use a guy like Leroy Jolley.
Leroy Jolley has won 2 Derbies and countless other big races, not to mention the good horses he's picked out at public auction.
This year Leroy Jolley got to town about two lengths ahead of the two-horse trailer boys. That's a sign he ain't got too much dough behind him to buy yearlings with.
There has got to be a guy out there who could use a Hall-of-Fame trainer who has forgotten more about a horse than these new guys will ever know.

Luke McKathan
Takes Up Galloping Horses
With gallop riders getting unheard of fees to gallop horses ($10 per head), Ocala, Florida living legend Luke McKathan has decided to try his hand in that very lucrative market.
Since ol'Luke ain't been on a horse's back in 15 years, he figures he better try to undercut the opposition.
Luke McKathan announces that he will gallop your horse, for up to three miles for $9.50. If your horse is real tough, he'll gallop him for $9.75.
As soon as word of this gets out, ol'Luke is gonna be busier than a one-arm paper hanger.

Marshall Jenny Having
The Sale of His Life
Marshall Jenny, of the Derry Meeting Farm, never had it so good.
He sold a 3/4 sister to Lassie, by Mister Ed for $100,000 on Wednesday.
But that does not compare to the money he's made the last two nights.
You see, by accident Rogers Beasley put Marshall Jenny in the same barn (Barn 11) with Ms. Alice Chandler's horses selling on Saturday.
Well, Marshall Jenny just waited for everyone to go home and then he helped himself to the Mill Ridge Farm consignment hayloft.
For two days now Mill Ridge Farm has had no hay for their yearlings when the day begins.
That's when Marshall Jenny offers to sell Mill Ridge Farm some of this fancy 3-wire hay that looks almost identical to the hay Mill Ridge Farm feeds.
And Marshall Jenny ain't cheap either. He was selling that 3-wire timothy and alfalfa back to Alice Chandler for $57.50 a bale and cash only.
What else was Ms. Alice gonna do? It was too late to send someone back to the farm for hay.
Marshall Jenny could have done much more damage in the hayloft of Barn 11, but ol'Bud Greely of Wintergreen Farm was slick to ol'Marshall's tricks.
That's why Bud Greely had two Pinkertons stationed in his hayloft to prevent any of Wintergreen Farm's inventory from disappearing.

Watch out For The Yearlings By
Hermitage Farm Stallion, Pembroke
For years Injun Chuck has referred to Pembroke as "the world's fastest horse".
Why? Cause he ran 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf in 1:00 2/5 that's why. In case you're wonderin'; that is a world record.
Pembroke was a successful critter on both sides of the big pond.
Pembroke is by Gone West, out of College Bold, the dam of Nasty and Bold and Told.
Pembroke's first-crop are 2-year-olds this year and he has already had SIX (6) winners in 1999.
His upcoming yearlings are exceptional and you should make a point to look at each and every Pembroke that goes into the sales ring.
There are just too many things to like about both the colts and fillies by Pembroke selling at Keeneland in September.
See for yourself.

Malone's
The Best Steaks in "606"
Brian McCarty and every one at Malone's are very proud of the fact that they have become the #1 place for steaks in Lexington and all of Central Kentucky.
The local racing community has really taken to Malone's because every time Injun Chuck goes in the joint we see nothin' but owners, breeders, trainers and one extra large Sallee Van executive named, Don "Moon" Gamble.
To get to Malone's just take New Circle Road to Tates Creek and you will be two furlongs from the Lansdowne Shops where Malone's is located. With so many people in town for the Keeneland Sale, parties of five or more should definitely call ahead for reservations (606) 396-7500.

Taylor Made
On Sunday
Hip #2576
You just can't find yearlings that look as good, and have as much black-type in their pedigrees as does Hip #2576.
Hip #2576 is a filly by the ultra-fast, Golden Gear and a 1/2-sister to two stakes-placed fillies.
Golden Gear had a ton of raw speed, but he also had the class to carry that speed a flat mile as he did in the Grade Three Equipose Mile. Golden Gear was a good horse and Hip #2304 is going to possess a great deal of that raw talent. The female line in this pedigree is far from shabby either.
Go by Barns 25 and 26 and let the folks at Taylor Made show you this filly with tons of potential.

The Ides of September
It ain't gonna be long before the first-crop of Ide (Forty Niner-Maytide) will be showing up at Keeneland in September.
There ain't no way Ide is not gonna throw top class runners.
The Forty Niner influence in new stallions has been nothing short of sensational in recent years.
And let's not forget that Ide was a very good racehorse.
As a 2-year-old Ide was weighted at 121 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap.
Ide won 7 consecutive races and 5 were stakes races, 4 of those were graded stakes races.
Ide won the Fort Springs Stakes and 4 graded stakes: the Iroquois, the Rebel, the Southwest, and the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes.
Ide ran the fastest 8 ½ furlongs ever by a 2-year-old at Churchill Downs.
This here is Injun Chuck talkin' to ya. If Ide was you, Ide be keepin' my eye out for the Ide yearlings, coming up at Keeneland in September.

Hip #3859
Ya don't want to leave this sale too early cause there is a 1/2-sister to Naughty selling on the sale's last day--Hip #3859.
Naughty won her first 5 in a row including two stakes, the Queen City Oaks and the Tall Stack, defeating colts.
In her first start outside of Ohio, Naughty ran a game 2nd in the Summertime Promise stakes at Hawthorne on Labor Day. Naughty is gonna be even better next year and will be a monster on the turf.
Hip #3859 is by Wild Zone, out of a Halo mare.
