The End of and Era

With the running of today's 9th race will be the last Keeneland Race Meet run under the Bill Greely administration.
Under Mr. Greely's guidance, Keeneland, while staying with tradition, was transformed into a state-of-the-art facility for both racing and thoroughbred auctions.
We have not got a big enough sheet to list all the vast improvements made at Keeneland while Bill Greely has been at the helm.
Whoever takes over as Keeneland's president is never gonna be able to replace Bill Greely.

(Editor's note: Thanks to Bill Greely for the $50 tip for running this article).

Mitch Shirota Going To The Breeders' Cup

Mitch Shirota is going to the Breeders' Cup!
Last Monday nite Don "Moon" Gamble's Dear Moon won the last race at Hoosier Park and paid $4.40 to win.
Mitch Shirota made so much money gambling that he bought a round trip Greyhound Bus ticket to the Breeders' Cup.
Shirota plans to work the valet parking lot at Gulfstream Park on Breeders' Cup Day, just as he did 10 years ago when the Breeders' Cup was last held at the Hallendale, Florida track.
In 1989 Shirota had his greatest day in horse racing, making over $700 in tips, plus he made another $650 between stooping for live tickets, touting and workin' the crowd as a pickpocket.
Shirota will also be workin' as a night watchman for Phil Hauswald and sleepin' in a tack room in Phil's barn so no one will be able to get to Middlesex Drive, who Shirota once told Hauswald would never be worth ten thousand dollars on the grass.

Malone's
The Best Steaks in "606"

Brian McCarty and every one at Malone's are very proud of the fact that they have become the #1 place for steaks in Lexington and all of Central Kentucky.
The local racing community has really taken to Malone's because every time Injun Chuck goes in the joint we see nothin' but owners, breeders, trainers and one extra large Sallee Van executive named, Don "Moon" Gamble.
To get to Malone's just take New Circle Road to Tates Creek and you will be two furlongs from the Lansdowne Shops where Malone's is located.  With so many people in town for the Keeneland Races, parties of five or more should definitely call ahead for reservations (606) 396-7500.

The Parting Glass II

This is the best thing to happen to Lexington, Kentucky since Sheikh Mohammed got into the horse business.
Joan Desadora, owner of the Parting Glass Irish Pub in Saratoga Springs, New York has recently opened the Parting Glass II at Harrodsburg Road and Layne Allen Drive (in the old "Shooters" location).
For those of you who have been to Saratoga, we don't need to tell you.  For those of you who haven't, the Parting Glass is, plain and simple, the best place to go have a good time--period.
Lexington's Parting Glass will offer the same great beers from around the world as well as a great food menu--including Injun Chuck's favorite, french fried sweet potatoes.
The Parting Glass II, it just opened on October 1st and its already Lexington, Kentucky's #1 watering hole.  Check it out.  (606) 278-0815.
